Malev Hungarian Airline (pronounced "Molayv") operates flights to around 40 cities worldwide through its hub in Budapest Ferhegy Airport. The airline was formed in 1956 from the ashes of a Soviet company that was set up following world war two, and has used Russian planes throughout most of its history, although as part of its fleet modernisation programme prior to joining the OneWorld alliance, Malev is now adding Boeing aeroplanes on most service.

There are two booking classes on Malev Hungarian Airline flights. Economy class seats have a pitch of 32 inches, and a fairly good service is offered in spite of people's preconceptions about flying with the airline. The food is of a good standard, and beer and wine is served throughout the flight (spirits cost extra).

If you upgrade to business class, you get more space - up to 40 inches on long haul flights, and the meal and drink service is improved. Entertainment consists of cabin televisions that show films throughout the flights, and you get lounge access to the Alitalia lounges where available.

Malev Hungarian Airlines offer a passenger loyalty scheme called Duna Club, which allows you to collect points every time you fly.
