The German national airline Lufthansa was originally set up in the mid 1920s as an operator of Airships, and opened up the Transatlantic routes with massive Zeppelins in the 1930s. After the war, the airline took some time to recover, but by the time it absorbed its East German equivalent InterFlug in 1991, the airline was one of the largest airlines in Europe, and has continued to grow since, carrying more than 50 million passengers in 2003!

A member of the Star Alliance group of airlines, and in conjunction with their partners Lufthansa can offer services to more than 600 places around the world, including German cities such as Frankfurt and Berlin, as well as destinations such as Dubai, New York, and Hong Kong. With connections available from most UK airports to their hubs in Munich and Frankfurt, they offer a convenient and good value service to a huge network of cities.

Economy class provides passengers with a basic but good service; seats have a 32-inch pitch and include snacks, drinks with your meal, and in-flight entertainment on cabin televisions.

In business class, the upgraded service includes a seat pitch of between 40 and 48 inches depending on the aircraft, high quality freshly prepared food, drinks throughout the flight and entertainment on a personal television.
