Useful Airline Information
Known correctly as Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij, but universally shortened to KLM, this Royal Dutch airline was one of the largest carriers in Europe. In 2004, the airline merged with Air France combined to become the biggest airline in the world, with annual passenger numbers in excess of 100 million.
Services began with a flight from London to Amsterdam in 1920, and the airline grew rapidly, with new destinations added all the time (aside from during the second world war).
KLM flights are offered in two separate booking classes. Economy class passengers benefit from a seat pitch up to 34 inches, and enjoy a meal service and in flight entertainment on large televisions. Baggage allowance in economy class is 20KG.
Business class offers a larger and more comfortable seat, with a pitch of around 60 inches guaranteeing passengers plenty of space to stretch out and relax. Entertainment is provided via a personal video screen with 12 channels on offer, and a wide range of music. The luggage allowance in business class is a generous 30KG, and passengers are granted access to the plush KLM departure lounges where offered, and a range of other airline's around the world.
